The real cost of studying in France is never one number: it is a fee, plus a dozen lines nobody warns you about. A family in India builds this budget in rupees, months in advance, often for the first time. So this page lists every line — including the ones we do not charge you for.

These are paid by you, not to us. The figures are what our own students spend — not the cheapest case, and not a sales figure.
Booking a room in France from India, in a language you do not speak, to a deadline set by a consulate — this is where students lose weeks. The option exists because several of them will.
€680 for the four weeks. A furnished room of your own with a kitchen area — a studio, or a private bedroom in a shared flat, depending on the size of the cohort. Water, electricity and internet are included in the rent, so there is no second bill and nothing to set up. Plus your local transport pass (€28.80 a month at the under-26 rate, for the whole stay) and the booking handled from here. Taken with your second instalment, and offered by default.
A confirmed booking in your name lowers the daily funds you must prove from €120 to €65 a day — €3,360 down to €1,820 over twenty-eight days. That alone is often worth more than the option costs.
Book your own room at around €600, buy your own pass, send us the confirmation, and the option leaves your invoice. You save the difference and you carry the deadline. Tell us early — the visa calendar does not wait.
The programme is opened to a small number of partner universities, and the fee is set in the agreement with each of them — it depends on the size of the cohort and on how the calendar is built around your academic year.
If your university is already talking to us, ask your international office: they have the figure. If it is not, write to us and we will send it, along with what it covers, within three working days.

Nobody is asked to transfer the whole amount at once. The exact dates and amounts are written into your enrolment agreement, and they follow the visa calendar rather than our convenience.
A first instalment confirms your place in the cohort. Places are limited to twenty-five, and they are held in the order the instalments arrive.
The second instalment, which also carries the accommodation option if you take it. It is what allows us to book your residence in time for the application.
The balance, once your visa is granted. Read the refund terms in the agreement before the first transfer — they say exactly what happens if the visa is refused, and you should know that in advance, not afterwards.
Because it is agreed with each partner university, and it depends on the cohort size and the calendar. Write to us and you will have it in writing within three working days — with the list of what it covers, which is the part that actually varies between programmes.
The refund terms are written into your enrolment agreement, and you receive it before you pay anything. Read that clause first. Any school that will not show it to you in advance is telling you something.
Terms for partner universities — reserved places, group conditions, calendar — are set in the agreement with your institution. Your international office is the right person to ask.
Yes. The consulate asks you to justify a daily amount for the length of your stay. With a confirmed accommodation booking in your name, that requirement drops from around €120 to €65 a day — which is why we push every student to settle housing early, whether through our option or their own.
No. A short-stay Schengen visa does not permit paid work in France. Build the budget on the assumption that nothing comes back in while you are here.
The fee is set in euros, so the rupee amount moves with the rate between the day you enrol and the day you transfer. Over a six-month cycle, a variation of a few per cent is normal — worth a line in your budget, not a reason to worry.
